Signed copies of C. Alexander London’s books available at Barnes & Noble

In the evening, London entertained 23 kids and 19 adults at the Henry Ford Centennial Library with his talk about getting in touch with your wild side and writing from an animal’s perspective.  Barnes & Noble attended the library event and made it possible for patrons to purchase books and have them signed by the author.  All in all, it was a great day and we were able to reach a large audience of youth in our community.  For those who missed London’s visit, there are a limited number of signed copies of C. Alexander London’s books available at the Barnes & Noble in Allen Park.

Robert W. Service, “The Bard of the Yukon”

April is National Poetry Month, a time to celebrate poetry and its place in American culture. As we bid farewell to April and head into warmer days, here are some poems to keep you in The Call of the Wild spirit.

Robert_W._ServiceCanadian poet Robert W. Service has been called “The Bard of the Yukon.” Among his poems are “The Spell of the Yukon,” “The Cremation of Sam McGee,” “The Law of the Yukon,” and even one called “The Call of the Wild“!

Although Jack London is more well-known for his novels and short stories, he also wrote poetry such as “The Klondyker’s Dream,” which was inspired by his time in the Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush.

Listen to a dramatic reading of Robert W. Service’s poem “The Spell of the Yukon”!
